Learning Tools for Teaching: Hands-on Lab: Copilot Chat, Notebooks, and the Study and Learn Agents

Event Information
Date:
Thursday, November 5, 2026 - 9:15am to 10:15am

Working session in Copilot Chat and Copilot Notebooks, both available to everyone at Penn State at no additional cost. We open with the prompting essentials people need to get good results, then go straight to work: faculty build a Notebook around one live course or project and leave with something they can keep using. We also get hands on with the Study and Learn agents, which are built for how students actually work — rather than handing over an answer, they walk a student through the reasoning step by step. This is the part of the day most directly relevant to what faculty are wrestling with right now, both for supporting students and for academic integrity, so we leave room for that conversation. We point out the accessibility tools already built in, including Immersive Reader and live captions and translation. No license required, which makes this the session to send anyone who is curious but not yet licensed.
